Sr. Director, CommunicationsWebcorShel Holtz is Senior Director of Communications at Webcor, a California commercial builder. With nearly 50 years in employee communications, corporate PR, crisis and media relations, financial/investor communications, marketing communications, and compensation/benefits communications, he helps leaders communicate with clarity and credibility.
Since the mid-1980s, he has tracked and applied emerging digital technologies in the communications function, from email and intranets to the web, social media, and chatbots. Today, he focuses on how artificial intelligence is changing communication, sharing insights through conference presentations, webinars, and published articles. Shel’s expertise also covers strategic communications planning, change management, organizational culture, business initiatives, and communications research. Before joining Webcor in 2017, he spent 20+ years as principal of Holtz Communication + Technology, advising organizations worldwide. Earlier roles include Director of Corporate Communications at Allergan and Mattel, work with two global HR consulting firms, and an internal communications role at ARCO in Los Angeles. He has written six books and co-hosts “For Immediate Release,” the first and longest-running communication podcast (launched January 2005). He is a certified Strategic Communication Management Professional (SCMP) and an Accredited Business Communicator; an IABC Fellow; a Senior Fellow of The Conference Board’s Marketing & Communication Center; and a Founding Research Fellow at the Team Flow Institute. He served six years on IABC’s international executive board and is a five-time Gold Quill winner. He began his career as a newspaper reporter and editor after earning a BA in Journalism from California State University, Northridge, and lives in Concord, California, with his wife and their dog. |
