Dr. Ghana Mahanty is heading the Data Science function for Visa Inc. in the Middle East and North Africa region. He specializes in enabling organizations to leverage their data assets and has expertise in business management, data transformation strategy, as well as in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and generative AI solutions. His industry focus is on retail banking and payment.

Dr. Mahanty has worked extensively across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, bringing a global perspective to his role. He holds a PhD in Economics from the Department of Analytical and Applied Economics at Utkal University in Bhubaneswar, India.

His research interests span machine learning, artificial intelligence, generative AI, macroeconometric and structural data modeling, panel modeling, and the areas of money, banking, and payments.
